Q & A
What is the 'Hypno' in Hypnobirthing all about?
Hypnobirthing has very little to do with hypnosis itself. Yes, hypnosis techniques are used to alter anxious and fearful thoughts about birth, but it’s all explained in an extremely scientific and factual way, relating to how our brain functions. Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation and we experience this level of relaxation everyday, It is when we are about to fall into sleep or about to wake up. It is NOT mind control.
When is the best time to start a Hypnobirthing course?
The ideal time to begin the course is between 20 and 30 weeks of pregnancy. This is because the course is usually taught over 4 separate sessions and you will need to practice the breathing techniques and the relaxations in addition to classes. The more time you have to practice the techniques and use the decision-making tools, the better.
However please don’t worry if you are passed this point in pregnancy, you will still massively benefit from a course. My Hypnobirthing essentials course is prefect for this.
What if IÂ am beyond 35 weeks pregnant?
Don’t worry, although starting earlier is preferable, it is never too late! Please get in touch as a one to one classes can be organised quickly where there is availability, so that we can fit them before your estimated due date. Plus I also offer an intensive version of the course which can be done in a 4 hour session.
Women have had wonderful births using Hypnobirthing days after they have completed the course!
Does my partner need to attend?
Hypnobirthing classes provide valuable techniques for both you and your partner. Classes allow both you and your partner to feel prepared and positive about the birth of your child, therefore it is very important that they attend. However if it is not possible for them to attend please get in touch for a chat. It is likely that we can work around this.If you don’t have a partner or are planning to birth without your partner present that is absolutely fine, women have had great Hypnobirths without a partner present.
Can IÂ do Hypnobirthing if I am having a C-Section?
If you have a Caesarian birth, Hypnobirthing can prove wonderful in these circumstances, allowing you to relax and feel calm in a situation that could be quite scary. Hypnobirthing classes can also prepare you and your partner for the C-section itself, so that you know what to expect. I also offer Caesarian Workshops.
What is included in the cost of the course?
Included in the course cost is-
Around 9-10 hours of fun and friendly tuition usually taught over 4 sessions for yourself and your birth partner.
A Hypnobirthing workbook and Hypnobirthing MP3s.
A goody bag featuring Positive Birth Affirmation cards.
